March Family Fitness Tips

Get Fit Together...As a Family!  Do you need some more simple indoor fitness ideas to choose to exercise together as a family? It's easy if you break it up into smaller time chunks. Here are some ideas: While watching TV (maybe the Olympics!), agree to exercise during each advertisement during a 30-minute segment. Some ideas are sit-ups, crunches, push-ups, jumping jacks, leap-frogs, lunges, or even DANCE MOVES! Anything will work! Each member of the family is responsible for choosing one exercise, and leads that exercise during a commercial. During the next commercial a different person chooses to lead a different exercise. Be creative. Think of new, fun ways to move. Exercise does not need to be difficult or boring. Families who exercise together will be healthier together.

Attention Private and Parochial School Parents:
Please remember that there is an April 1, 2010 deadline for your request for transportation for the upcoming school year.
See the Guide to Transportation within School/District Resources for the form and contact information.

We have been notified by the Department of Health that a kindergarten student at Katonah Elementary School has been diagnosed with pertussis (whooping cough). While there is no cause for alarm, we wanted to bring it to your attention that cases of pertussis do appear sporadically in the community. Please see the attached letter for more information.

Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff:

RE: Health Notice Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)

Recently, we have had three confirmed cases of MRSA in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District. More cases may occur. We need to recognize that MRSA is present in our community, as it is in most communities. We need to remain diligent in our efforts to prevent MRSA infections, particularly in light of the serious nature of the combination of a MRSA infection and H1N1 influenza. More...
