pep rally

Did you hear them from your home? One of the challenges at John Jay Middle School’s Pep Rally was a cheering contest. “Cheer as loud as you can for your grade!” said Principal Jeff Swiatowicz. Congratulations to the students who won. (You know who you are!)

The Homecoming Pep Rally was as unique and fun as the students and teachers of John Jay Middle School..

“It’s one of the best parts of the year!” said educator Kelsey Madonna, who led the planning team with colleague Adrionna Palmiero. “It’s such a great way to show school spirit and come together as a community.”

Student athletes stood proudly, team by team, as they were recognized. Students who participated in one or more of the school’s clubs also stood to be celebrated. From members of the Animal Care Club to Wake Up John Jay, the crew that helps create the morning announcements, the level of involvement in extra-curricular activities was impressive!

fun and games

Everyone knows Wolves like to play, and the Pep Rally folded in fun for teachers and students that tapped skills many didn’t know they had. These included the Cookie Contest: Get the cookie into your mouth without using your hands, and the Best Mummification of a Teacher in 60 seconds, plus Musical Chairs, Flag Grab and more.

The Pep Rally closed with a big reveal. Each academic team, from sixth grade to eighth grade, had collaborated on determining their group’s name. When the team teachers announced the names—among them Wisdom Warriers, Resilience, Charisma—the students cheered for the year ahead and all that it held. Go Wolves!
