national merit semifinalists

John Jay High School is extremely proud to announce that William Harris, Austin Omin and Nina Vigil are National Merit® Scholarship Semifinalists. “Their accomplishments are a testament to the high personal standards that they set for themselves and the commitment and perseverance necessary to achieve this level of distinction,” said Dr. Steven Siciliano, principal of John Jay High School.

The three John Jay seniors are among about 50,000 students named as Semifinalists. Students qualify as Semifinalists based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in their junior year. Semifinalists have an opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships.

After congratulating the seniors in person, Principal Steven Siciliano shared the news with the John Jay High School community through an all-school announcement. He also congratulated the students’ families and teachers, underscoring the critical relationships that nurture student success.

“We wish William, Austin and Nina continued success in their studies during their time at the high school and hope to see them as finalists,” said Dr. Siciliano.
